Best White Noise Machines For Babies

Looking for the best white noise machines for babies? If that’s true, you’re at the right place at the right time.

In this article I’m sharing information on top 5 of these little machines.

There are many reasons to get one, but these are the two most important ones:

  1. BETTER SLEEP – Babies are not used to complete silence (and neither are adults for that matter), so a white noise machine is useful for relaxation and improving their quality of sleep.
  2. IMPROVES SOUND IN THE BABY’S ROOM – White noise machines can also replace other unpleasant noise coming from outside the room. This is especially useful if you have thin walls and loud neighbors. In addition to that, I’ve recently written an article explaining how to soundproof a baby’s room, so you might find that article helpful as well.

In addition to getting a white noise maker for your own child, it’s also a great gift for a Baby Shower and similar occasions. I’ve hand-picked the best ones based on these key criteria:

  • quality of the sound system
  • number of useful features
  • the way it looks
  • customer reviews from other buyers on Amazon
  • price vs. quality – This is a good place to add one of my favorite quotes by Warren Buffet: “Price is what you pay, value is what you get.” Now ain’t that true.

But generally speaking, all white noise machines for babies are somewhere between $30-$50, so it’s hard to go wrong on that front.

So the features, the quality of the materials, and the overall look of the product is what really makes one stand out from the other.

Without further ado, let’s check the best ones out!

Marpac Dohm-DS All-Natural Sound Machine

It would be impossible not to include Marpac Dohm-DS on this list. It’s the most popular white noise machine for babies and adults, with over 12 600 reviews at the moment.

Marcap Dohm is all about the quality of the sound. It has a dual speed motor and a unique asymmetrical fan that produces adjustable white noise. You can play around with tone and volume by simply rotating the cap and collar.

As you can see, the design is really simple, making it a good choice both for a baby’s room and for other rooms in the home.

Marcap Dohm-DS also comes with a one year warranty and customer service. But based on thousands of positive reviews, this little noise maker will last you much longer than that.

But there are a few downsides to this product. One of them is that Marcap is not portable. You have to plug it in in order for it to work, unlike some of the other choices on this list.

Another downside is the lack of other sounds. If you’re looking for white noise only, it’s a great machine, but if you’re looking for more sounds to play, you might prefer some of the other ones on this list.

SoundBub, White Noise Machine and Bluetooth Speaker

SoundBub is both a fluffy toy and a white noise maker. But in reality, it’s much more than that.

First of all, it has a built-in white noise option, but you also get free access to the companies VoiceShare app upon purchasing it. In this app you get additional 12 white noise sounds.

SoundBub also has a Bluetooth speaker so you can play your babies favorite music or recorded messages on the device with VoiceShare.

Another cool thing about SoundBub is that it’s portable and rechargeable, so it can keep your baby entertained wherever you go.

When it’s time to sleep, there is a timer option that allows you to choose between 30, 60 and 90 minutes.

Overall, this is an affordable white noise machine with multiple features and a fun design. There are 2 more design options (link to Amazon), so give them a glance if you’re interested.

Wyatt the Whale Storytelling Baby Sleep Soother

Have you ever met a person that doesn’t like whales? Me neither. Wyatt the Whale has a handful of useful features and a lovely personality.

It contains 10 soothing lullabies and 10 calming ambient sounds, all designed to ensure your baby is happy and well rested.

I mentioned personality, and here’s what I mean:

With a soothing voice, Wyatt the Whale will read to your baby 10 classic stories, each 40 minutes long. Also, you can connect Wyatt to your mobile device with Wi-Fi and add new songs, stories and ambient sounds.

Another feature that I really like is the soft light that shines through those star-shaped holes on its back. It can project a starry night unto the ceiling, and there are 3 colors of light to choose from.

One downside of Wyatt is that it’s not encircled in soft, fluffy material. That’s understandable, considering the fact he’s a whale. But it can make it more vulnerable.

If he falls or gets thrown around a few times too many, Wyatt can break. Although the surface material is tough, hard plastic, it’s not as invincible as SoundBub or our next toy-white noise machine.

I still think it’s a good choice, but you should be a tad more careful with it. With that being said, you can check out this whales price on Amazon by clicking here.

Cloud B Sleep Sheep

Cloud B Sleep Sheep is a perfectly useful, fluffy toy. It’s a white noise machine, and it has some excellent soothing sounds and melodies that have a calming effect.

Some of the sounds are Mother’s Hearbeat, Spring Showers, Twinkle Twinkle and Rockabye Baby. Is also has a Tranquil Melody and Classical Lullaby which are especially good for getting the baby to sleep.

Sleep Sheep has a Velcro tab, so it can easily be attached to the baby’s crib. It works on AA batteries, and 2 of them come together with the package.

One useful thing that makes Sleep Sheep stand out from the competition is that the sound machine is hidden underneath the plush surface.

So it’s really safe, both for the baby and the Sleep Sheep, because as we all know, children sometimes drop their toys or like to throw them around. Since the sound machine is encircled by soft material, it can last for a really long time.

In addition to that, Sleep Sheep has earned several rewards due to its quality, the two most significant being the National Parenting Council’s Seal of Approval and the iParenting Media Award.

myBaby SoundSpa Ultrasonic Humidifier

myBaby SoundSpa is a humidifier, and it can also play 4 soothing sounds: White Noise, Heartbeat, Summer Night and Lullaby. It’s easy to change the tunes and adjust the volume by using the buttons visible on the photo.

This product has an impressive 1 gallon tank, protected from mold and mildew by Clean Tank Technology. The tank lasts about 45 hours, after which it needs to be refilled.

myBaby SoundSpa also has a convenient night light to keep the baby feeling safe at night.

Almost all the buyers on Amazon gave this humidifier/white noise machine 5 and 4 star reviews, so it’s safe to assume that it’s durable and of sound quality.

Conclusion

I’m sure you’ll agree that all 5 of these white noise machines are cute and have pretty cool features. I think you’d make a good choice by picking any one of these. But here is my final observation:

  • For a long-term solution that can be used both in the baby’s room and in other places, Marcap Dohm-DS is the optimal choice.
  • SoundBub and Wyatt the Whale are really cute and provide more sound features than other options, so they take the cake in that area. They can also be carried around outside, so that’s a bonus.
  • SleepSheep is the best toy and white noise machine combination, because it’s plush and slightly bigger than others. It can also be carried around.
  • And lastly, if you want a practical combination of a humidifier, white noise maker and night light, myBaby SoundSpa is the obvious choice.

I hope this overview has given you further insight into the best white noise machines for babies, and that you’ll enrich your baby’s life with one of these cool items.
